Fabulous Petrified Wood Log Long before the Puget Sound existed… before glaciers carved the landscape… towering forests covered what is now Washington State.

This remarkable 28.9 pound specimen of agatized petrified wood is a silent survivor from that ancient world.

Millions of years ago a living tree fell and was buried beneath volcanic sediments. Over time, mineral-rich groundwater slowly replaced the wood cell by cell with silica, preserving the original grain of the tree while transforming it into stone.

Later geological pressure fractured the fossil, and the cracks healed with chalcedony, agate, and quartz, creating the beautiful mosaic patterns visible today.

Eventually, during the Ice Age, massive glaciers carried this fossilized wood across the region before depositing it where it was discovered
