There is just something special about old aqua glass. 💙
This beautiful antique Ball Mason quart canning jar has gorgeous aqua-blue glass filled with the character we love to find in early utilitarian glass—wonderful waviness, ripples, bubbles, variations in thickness and subtle distortions that catch the light beautifully.
The front is embossed with the flowing Ball script with its long underline and MASON beneath.
The bottom carries two separate mold/manufacturing markings — “2” and “6.” These markings are associated with the manufacturing process and should not be interpreted as a production date.
This jar also retains its wonderful old zinc screw-on lid with white porcelain liner, giving it an especially authentic antique appearance.
• Early 20th-century American utilitarian glass
CONDITION
Beautiful antique condition with age-appropriate wear. The zinc lid shows the wonderful darkened patina expected from age, and the porcelain liner remains present. The glass displays bubbles, waves, lines and other irregularities created during manufacture—these are part of the character and appeal of early glass.
Please examine all photographs closely as they are considered part of the description.
Whether displayed in an antique kitchen collection, filled with flowers or simply placed near a window where the light can illuminate that gorgeous aqua glass, this is a wonderful piece of American canning history.
