CONDITION

Beautiful antique condition with the wear and manufacturing character expected of a jar of this age.

The glass contains numerous bubbles, waves, ripples, swirls and variations in thickness created during manufacture. These wonderful irregularities are part of the character of the antique glass rather than modern reproductions of an aged appearance.

The ground rim, threads, embossing and base are shown in detailed photographs so the jar can be examined closely.

The zinc cap exhibits natural oxidation, patina and age-related wear. The white glass liner also shows age and use. Neither has been polished or restored.

This is an especially beautiful display piece. In natural light, the heavy antique glass shifts from a soft blue-green aqua to deeper turquoise where the glass is thicker, while the bubbles and waves seem to come alive.

A wonderful addition to an antique fruit jar, early American glass, bottle, primitive kitchen or canning collection—and a gorgeous piece simply displayed where sunlight can pass through more than a century of wonderfully imperfect aqua glass.
