A wonderfully romantic piece of antique porcelain, filled with all the details that make turn-of-the-century floral pieces so irresistible.

This beautiful antique footed bowl features an elegant deeply fluted body that rises to a dramatic, softly scalloped rim. Resting upon three sculptural curled scroll feet, the form is every bit as lovely as the decoration.

Delicate sprays of blushing pink roses and soft green foliage are scattered across both the exterior and interior of the bowl. The larger rose bouquets decorating the outside are complemented by smaller floral sprays tucked around the interior, making the bowl beautiful from virtually every angle.

The scalloped rim and tips of the scroll feet were originally highlighted with gold gilding. Much of the gold has softened and worn with time, leaving behind a wonderfully aged, mottled appearance that speaks beautifully to the history of the piece.

There are also a few small original firing/manufacturing imperfections, including a tiny dark mineral/iron inclusion and a small irregularity that are beneath the glaze. These occurred during manufacture and are not later chips or surface damage.

Minor signs of age and use may be present throughout. Please review all photographs closely, as they form an important part of the condition description.

Although unmarked, the molded form, floral decoration and gilded treatment are consistent with Continental European decorative porcelain produced during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Without a manufacturer’s mark, however, we prefer not to attribute it to a particular factory or country.
